Delegates of the Oromo Peoples Liberation Front (OPLF) and the Oromiyaa Liberation Council (OLC) held a conference from November 22nd to 25th, 2006 and finalized a merger of the two organizations.
Based on the spirit of unity that has resulted following the formation of the United Liberation Forces of Oromiyaa (ULFO), the OPLF and OLC have developed a growing interest of working as one entity. Such interest has led to serious bilateral talks and discussions that eventually precipitated in the recommendation of the two organizations to coalesce into one organization.
In line with this recommendation, a delegate conference that ratifies a new political program and constitution and concludes the merger process was proposed. It is in accordance with this proposal that delegates of the two organizations convened and ratified the political program and constitution of the organization that culminated from the merger of the OPLF and OLC, which is from now onwards known as Gumii Adda Bilisummaa Ummata Oromiyaa (GABUO).
The evolution of GABUO is a giant stride towards consolidation of political forces of Oromiyaa struggling for the liberation of Oromiyaa. It attests the political maturation of the two organizations. It is a seasoned and timely political move that other Oromo political forces ought to emulate in order to advance the cause of liberation of Oromiyaa.
We, therefore, call upon all such forces to follow suit by shading off minor political differences and pooling together human and material resources and expertise and forming one national liberation front.
Unity is Strength!!
Oromia Shall Be Free!!
